Camp Mission

Camp Gan Israel of Lakeview welcomes all Jewish children ages 3-12, regardless of background or level of observance.  Our mission is for every child to feel a sense of belonging while experiencing intense joy in their Judaism--all setting the tone for an exciting summer of a lifetime!  The end result is a spirit of positivity, self-confidence and Jewish pride instilled in each and every one of our awesomely unique campers!  Our mission is also to keep our campers safe, both emotionally and physically.   Our staff has regular contact with local Chicago Police Department officials and security experts, and the CPD increases presence and vigilance around Nettelhorst while we're in camp.

Summer 2019 - Dates, Times, Location

CGI offers six jam-packed weeks from Monday June 24th through Friday August 2nd (excluding July 4th).  Our camp's "home base" is centrally located at the Nettelhorst School - 3252 N. Broadway.  Regular camp hours are from 9:00am-3:30pm; early and after care are available from 8:00-9:00am and 3:30-5:00pm for a rate of $20 per hour per family.  Early-bird (through April 19th) and sibling discounts are available.

Camp Activities

The trademark of the CGI experience is tons of diverse activities...Swimming, sports, arts & crafts, science, music, and field trips to exciting local kids' attractions are just the tip of the iceberg.  On any given day campers might be visited by an expert magician, a conservation expert with real live reptiles (and an alligator!), the incredible dogs of the CPD's K-9 unit, or a virtual reality experience to name a few!  And interactive elective "funshops" let campers choose from a catalog of exciting specialized activities; our summer catalog has included culinary arts, specialized sports, dance, origami, magic, and lots more!

Our Staff

Our exceptional staff is selected with care from across the U.S. and beyond.  They are warm, patient, and experienced role models with a love for children and a passion for nurturing their spirits.  They are intensively trained, including in CPR and first aid.  And they understand that each individual child's development is at the root of a positive and worthwhile camp experience!
